It doesn't just make big law firms look and feel good to have associates perform pro bono work. Many big firms use pro bono work as a training ground to get litigation associates in the courtroom. For some biglaw lawyers, the only time they will see the inside of the courthouse is when they represent a pro bono client on a divorce case. I have several colleagues at big "litigation" firms whose only jury trials to verdict are for pro bono clients.

What, you want pro bono results? I'm busy saving my own soul here ...

In Business As Usual When It Comes to Pro Bono, Carolyn Elefant takes aim at a recent op-ed by Lardent of the BigLaw funded Pro Bono Institute to the Washington Post about an op-ed article that ran over the weekend.
