if the case is serious enough, the lawyer who brings in the client can hire an expert PI lawyer for a cut of the fee, with the client’s consent. It’s what I have done, for example, when I have a client with large claim, but the defendant is a corporation in bankruptcy- it’s a no-brainer to hire a bankruptcy lawyer to help out.
