FREE TELESEMINAR/WEBINAR: What You Don’t Know About Solo Practice Can Hurt You!

What you don't know about solo practice can hurt you

By now, you’ve probably heard quite a bit about starting a law firm from well-intentioned law professors, mentors and colleagues.  Like comments about how you won’t make it unless you’ve got years of practice under your belt or worked at a law firm previously.   Or how starting a firm will cost thousands of dollars and a year’s worth of savings.  Or that working for yourself will make it impossible to ever find a “real” job.  Or that you need to be an entrepreneur, not a lawyer.  To be fair, there’s some truth in all of these cautionary warnings.  But at the same time, they also represent just one side of the story.  So why not hear the other side?

In a free teleseminar/webinar, I’ll bust some of the commonly held myths of solo practice and share some of the aspects of solo practice that you may not know, such as:

  • Starting a law firm is tough, but definitely viable even under the press of enormous student loans;
  • Solo practice offers a more secure career path than an associate job at biglaw in an era of offshoring and automation;
  • Solo practice actually gives you a chance to deal with all of those sexy subjects you studied about in law school: international law, the Constitution, preemption, federal courts and more;
  • Solo practice is not isolating, and is well suited even for those who like to work as part of a team;
  • Solo practice is one of the most effective ways to find a job working for others;
  • Solo practice is about being the lawyer you always wanted to be.

Of course, even if you already know, or eventually decide that solo practice is for you, how would you go about getting starting?  We’ll cover that topic as well including a discussion of:

-Where to locate your practice;
-How much money you’ll need to get up and running;
– What tools you’ll need, including a list of more than 20 FREE options;
-How to choose a practice area, whether to generalize or specialize and resources for mastering your practice area;
-The $100/month marketing budget.

This program is ideal for law students, new grads and practicing lawyers thinking about solo practice.  But it will also give a boost to practicing solos who are feeling discouraged about the path they’ve chosen or who are interested in new, low cost ways to market their practices.
