Given the popularity of the solo profiles in Solo by Choice SBC, I’ve decided to compile a companion volume comprised entirely of profiles of lawyers who are currently “solos by choice” (or even by involuntary choice) or who started out that solo but have since grown into a larger practice.  I’m looking for solos at all ages and stages of their career – those who started a firm just out of law school,  seasoned practitioners who’ve been practicing solo for decades, lawyers who “went solo as a group” (e.g., by teaming up with one or two other colleagues) and solos who have since grown their firm into a larger enterprise.  I want to collect your stories to convey the upsides and downsides of solo practice, to inspire the hundreds of other lawyers who are thinking about starting a practice and most of all to honor the accomplishments of solos everywhere who capably and enthusiastically serve clients and make access to justice a reality by showing up every day.

By participating in this project, not only will you have a chance to memorialize your advice for the ages, but you can help other solos more directly as well.  That’s because I will contribute seventy five percent of my share of royalties from sales of this book to a fund, now in the initial stages of creation, to help new and practicing solos in need of small grants for anything from a new computer or CLE to covering the cost of depositions or transcript in a case where the client didn’t pay.  As I prepare to relaunch MyShingle, I will keep you abreast of the progress.

If you’re interested in participating in this project, please take a few minutes to fill out this form.  PLEASE NOTE – all data provided in the form will be kept strictly confidential.  If you would like to participate but remain anonymous, you may do so.  However, the data is preliminarily required for verification purposes.  If you would like to participate anonymously, you may check the appropriate box on the form.

Feel free to contact me through the contact form on this site or in the comments below with any questions.
