August is always a busy month for me. Because my daughters spend some time at sleep away camp, I’m free to work around the clock or to travel out of town without juggling childcare, homework and all of the other ad-kid-istrivia attendant to parenthood. So here’s how I’ve been spending my time:
Best Advice: Get Outta Here NOW!!!(why sticking around too long can hold you back from achieving your dreams);
Vacation, Solo Style (comparing my vacations as a kid to my vacations now as a solo);
As for travel, I’ll be presenting at the following events, and hope that I’ll have a chance to meet some of you:
On August 4, I’m speaking on social media – ethical, efficient and practical use (two sessions, one with Lisa Solomon at the Pennsylvania Conference on Strategic Solutions for Solo to Mid-Size Firms . In particular, I’m very excited about the planned break out sessions and collaborative exercises that Lisa and I have developed for our session.
On August 7 and 9, I’m both flattered and excited to appear for a repeat performance at the Minnesota Strategic Solutions Solo & Small Firm Conference in beautiful Duluth, Minnesota.
Finally, on August 18-19, I’m in Colorado at its Solo/Small Firm Hanging A Shingle Program.
One reason why I love these conferences is that I find it so invigorating to be surrounded by the positive energy of practicing and prospective solos. Even more, I find that I pick up neat tidbits of advice, and learn so much about new approaches to starting a practice. That’s why I never tire of starting-a-law-practice talks like that of my colleague Gina Bongiovi’s recently posted online presentation on Starting A Law Firm. It’s a one hour webinar and completely free, so check it out!
Meanwhile, postings may be a bit light here once again, but stick around – there’s more in the works, I promise!
