What is the MyShingle Law Firm StartUp AI-ccelerator?
The Law Firm startUp AI-ccelerator is a month-long program consisting of pre-recorded videos and podcasts, hands-on work sessions and individualized office hours that teaches how to partner with emerging AI tools to get a law firm up and running quickly and affordably while mastering basic tech tools at the same time.
Whether you’re actively in the process of starting your firm or adding a new practice area, this course will help you take your firm from idea to implementation in a short period of time. And even if you’ve only just started flirting with the idea of your own firm, our hands-on exercises on setting a vision and researching possible markets with AI tools by your side will help you see the future more clearly.
How does the AI-ccelerator work?
The AI-ccelerator program is structured differently from most online oourses. Think of all the classes that provided heaps of recorded content, but no structure. Or dumped you into a Slack chat or Facebook group to interact with classmates with no instructor support.
The AI-ccelerator is different. You’ll receive recordings, but we’ll also have work sessions and office hours where you can get projects done. If you devote time to working through the program, you should have an MVF (minimum viable firm) ready to open. But even if you don’t, you will have other tasks completed - whether that’s a month’s worth of content, a website or basic filings and IOLTA setup. Or, if you’re not ready to start now, at least you’ll have the foundation to move forward when you’re ready.

Who teaches the AI-ccelerator Program?
I’m the primary instructor in the AI-ccelerator Program. We’ll have guest lectures from top experts in this space and access to vendor sponsors who can respond to questions.
I built my law firm and my personal reputation by being an early adopter of technology. When I first witnessed what ChatGPT could accomplish, I was reminded of the same sea-change when I first experienced the World Wide Web and blogging. I immediately recognized the promise of AI and how it could help lawyers start and maintain sustainable practices and offer exceptional work product and service to clients.
My other credentials? I own a national law firm that represents renewable energy entrepreneurs defends communities and landowners impacted by pipeline infrastructure and eminent domain. I also co-founded and lead a national trade association for marine renewables that helped deliver $50 million in federal funding to the industry. I am founder of the blog MyShingle.com, the longest-running blog on solo and small law firm practice that’s helped thousands of solos launch and author of “Solo by Choice: How to Start a Firm and Be the Lawyer You Always Wanted To Be” and “Social Media for Lawyers: The Next Frontier,” Most recently, I served on ABA TECHSHOW Planning Board 2023, and co-captained the 350-person Lawyer Mom Owner virtual summit in the midst of the pandemic. I’ve been listed as an Energy and Environmental Super Lawyer since 2012 (the only small firm lawyer on a list of AmLaw 200 firms), was named an ABA Legal Rebel (2010), a Fastcase 50 Innovator (2011) and an ABA Woman of Legal Tech (2014).
