Some Tech Round Up: LawTech Talk, MILO Conference
Here’s a quick round-up of a couple of tech related items of use for solos.
For a limited time, Nicole Black of Law Tech Talk is making her screencast on using online tools for case preparation available at no charge. Go to this link for more information.
The first MILO Fest (Macs In Law Office) is set for November 6-7 at the Disney World Coronado Springs Resort. There’s a great agenda and lots of first rate speakers. Those of you who read me regularly know that as of 2007, I’m a reborn-Mac user, having been an early adopter of Mac back in law school. But due to scheduling conflicts, I won’t be attending MILO.
The Techno Lawyer blog offers a pretty good round up of cheap tools that new solos can use to hit the ground running. I’ve used at least one of the tools mentioned in each category (as well as others which were omitted) and have my own preferences, but generally speaking, you won’t go wrong with most of the post’s recommendations.
The June 2009 issue of GP Solo includes an article on free and low cost collaboration tools, many which I’ve sampled and others which I’m thinking about using. I teach about collaboration at Solo Practice University, so I’m interested in how technology can facilitate collaboration, and specifically, what types of technologies do so most effectively.
