Many solo lawyers cringe when they hear the word “pro bono,” because they’re thinking of all that “involuntary” pro bono they do when clients don’t pay their bills. But even with these negative connotations, pro bono matters, if only because it’s the one thing that sets us apart from the quasi-non lawyer providers. Following my former LegalBlogwatch colleague, Bob Ambrogi’s lead I’ve taken the Pro Bono Blogging Pledge, where I’ve committed to write a post on what pro bono means to me in honor of this week’s National Pro Bono Week. Why don’t you join too?
I am speaking at the NYSBA Solo event November 8, but I’m working with my friend and colleague Susan Cartier-Liebel of Solo Practice University to plan a joint MyShingle/SPU meet up in New York for late afternoon or evening of November 7. Stay tuned for details.
Reminder: The MyShingle briefing on Ethics 2020 takes place on November 4. For more information and to sign up, visit this post.
