A Critical Thanksgiving for Solos and Smalls
This Thanksgiving, for the first time in years, I am thankful to be a small firm lawyer. On the cusp of a new administration where civil liberties may be eviscerated and private property rights may fall victim to private infrastructure development , as a lawyer, I have the skills to fight the erosion of these rights whether before a court or a legislative body, and as a small firm owner, I have the flexibility to determine the scope of my involvement. Most of all, I am proud to be part of the solo and small community that is frequently overlooked or knocked around by the big law elite, academics and legal futurists but always come back kicking when our rights are in jeopardy – reminding me that reports of the death of solos and smalls have been greatly exaggerated.
Here’s to a wonderful Thanksgiving to my readers, my fellow bloggers, my online friends and most of all, a thank you solo and small firm lawyers for showing up every single day. I’ll leave you with a couple of Thanksgiving posts from year’s past and see you on the other side!
