How I Used ChatGPT for Speechwriting (Part I)
Last night, I was so honored to receive a Stars of the Bar award for my work in encouraging woman law firm ownership from the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. I had two minutes to express why woman-owned firms matter so much to the legal profession.
So like any public figure who engages a speechwriter, I enlisted ChatGPT as mine. To be clear, ChatGPT didn’t write my speech or generate my ideas, but rather helped me organize and refine them. Here’s the process I used.
For the first draft, I stream-of-conscious dictated all of my talking points and pull quotes (including inspo from Ayn Rand) into ChatGPT, then asked it to refine them into a draft. I then practiced that draft, made my own edits and asked ChatGPT to help tighten things up. Using this collaborative back and forth, I was able to power through five versions in an hour – something that simply wouldn’t have been possible without ChatGPT. Plus ChatGPT kept me at my 2-minute limit.
